Crack kills, and so does diabetes

Picture 1--Look closely, enough said!

I find it rather odd that I'm typing this blog, while watching the Biggest Loser finale. To be honest, this is the first episode I have watched all season. I did hike with a girl named Sarah a couple weeks ago, who is on the show tonight, but that is all the biggest loser exposure I've had this year.

Today I hiked the "stop sign" hike again. This is the 4.3 mile hike up snow canyon from the bottom that they make all guests do once per week. I made it up the 1,100 foot 4.3 mile ascent in 1hr 8 mins and then back down all the way in about one hour. So, I started the morning with a 8.6 mile walk.

After breakfast I attended a "stretch" class. I'm not very stretchy but I did wake up snoring a couple times with all eyes on me...very relaxing class.

After Stretch, I attended a pool workout called deep water suspension. Really, its just swimming different strokes back and forth while mixing in some other movement in between.

The rest of the day's classes were; core (strength training), Interval training (my favorite cardio workout) and, another pool workout.

So, I have to admit I've struggled a bit today with my attitude. I am very much looking forward to getting home to see my family. I am missing another baseball game tonight but Rach is sending pictures, even as we speak. It did help to take an hour and a half in the middle of the day and delve into work. I'm ready to get back to real life, next week.

Today I noticed how many people carried yellow cards to meals to identify they were diabetic. Of those I have spoke with, none were born with the disease but developed it over time and due to their lifestyle choices. And, all basically described having the disease as the bane of their existence. I have a father and a brother that basically feel the same way. This is something I don't want and to a large extent, I can control through my decisions. This was today's eye opener for me.
